The LPGA is founded
Thirteen players build a professional home for women's golf.
The LPGA's 13 founders organized a lasting professional tour for women. Their work gave players a stage, a schedule and a future that later generations could build upon.
The 13 founders did more than announce a tour. They organized events, sought backing, competed and made a professional schedule possible at a time when women's opportunities were limited.
The organization grew through the work of players such as Patty Berg, Louise Suggs and Babe Didrikson Zaharias. Later champions inherited a stage these pioneers had to build themselves.
